These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and CT RailTime. They cover your use of the CT RailTime app and this website. Please read them. By using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Acceptance

By downloading, opening, or using CT RailTime, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the app on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for them.

The service

CT RailTime helps you check train times, buy and show tickets, view maps, and read service alerts for Connecticut trains, including the Hartford Line and Shore Line East. The app is a convenience tool. The trains, schedules, fares, and ticketing rules are set and run by the rail operators and the CT Rail ticketing system, not by us.

Not affiliated with CT Rail

CT RailTime is an independent app. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with CT Rail, the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Amtrak, or any rail operator. Names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe the service.

Eligibility

You may use CT RailTime only if you can form a binding agreement and are not barred from doing so under applicable law. If you are under the age required in your area to agree to terms like these, you may use the app only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Your account

You sign in with the same account you use for CT Rail ticketing. Your login details are verified by the CT Rail system. We do not store your password or payment card details. Keep your login details safe and do not share them. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us and CT Rail right away if you think your account has been used without your permission.

Tickets, fares, and payments

Tickets you buy in the app are sold, priced, and handled by the CT Rail ticketing system and its payment provider. Fares, taxes, fees, refunds, and the rules for using a ticket are set by that system, not by us. Your personal and payment card information is entered into and stored by CT Rail's systems. Activate a ticket only when you are ready to ride, keep it visible when asked, and follow the conductor's instructions. We are not a party to your ticket purchase and are not responsible for fares charged, refunds, or a ticket that is rejected at the point of use.

Train times

Times, track numbers, trip results, and alerts come from public sources and can change without notice. We work to keep them accurate, but we cannot guarantee they are correct or complete. Use them as a guide and always check official signs, announcements, and staff at the station. We are not responsible for a missed train, connection, or appointment.

Acceptable use

Please use the app for its intended purpose. You agree not to:

• break, overload, disrupt, or try to gain unauthorized access to the app or its servers;
• copy, scrape, resell, or build a competing service from the app's data without permission;
• use the app to access another person's account or to break any law; or
• reverse engineer or tamper with the app except where the law allows it.

Intellectual property

The CT RailTime app, its design, and its original content are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own travel needs. These terms do not give you any rights in the rail operators' or CT Rail's names, marks, or content.

Third-party services

The app relies on third-party services, including the CT Rail ticketing system, mapping providers, and a crash and error monitoring service. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services that we do not control.

No warranty

The app is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure, or error free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, CT RailTime and its makers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost trips, missed connections, lost profits, or lost data, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app, which for a free app may be zero.

Indemnification

You agree to cover and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and costs that arise from your misuse of the app or your breach of these terms, to the extent allowed by law.

Termination

You can stop using the app at any time and remove it from your device. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the app. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as disclaimers and limits on liability, will continue to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be handled in the courts located in Connecticut, unless the law requires otherwise.

Changes

We may update these terms as the app changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
